Southern blues-rock guitar wizard, vocalist and songwriter Tinsley Ellis is among the blues world’s most revered, respected and well-travelled. Since his Alligator debut 30 years ago, he’s performed in all 50 states, Canada, Europe, Australia and South America with his arsenal of molten licks, melodic riffs and rousing, intense solos. A guitarist’s guitarist, he’s taken his cues from the greats – performing dynamics from B.B. King; thrilling concerts from James Brown; extended instrumental jamming from The Allman Brothers. Sharing the stage with legends from Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, Otis Rush and James Cotton, to their contemporary counterparts such as Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi, Gov’t Mule and Widespread Panic, Tinsley plays with grit, soul and unbridled passion. Jonny Lang recorded his song “A Quitter Never Wins,” he won “Rock / Blues Album of the Year” from Blues Blast Magazine and has made numerous “Best Of” lists in publication countdowns such as DownBeat.
