Creative Writing Taster Series
Ever want to write, creatively? Join the Literary Arts Department in tapping your inner writer through a series of taster sessions to get you inspired...and writing! These supportive workshops explore techniques for sparking the imagination, developing skills and improving style. Class topics offer something for everyone no matter what level a writer you are. $35 per class or $90 for all 3. All classes will be held in Crested Butte, location TBD and will be emailed upon enrollment.

The Art of the Arc; Understanding and Crafting Internal & External Story Arcs

Join bestselling authors, Lana Williams and Anne Eliot, for this intensive and highly entertaining one-day workshop where you’ll learn the craft of writing compelling internal and external character arcs — a foundational skill in creating emotionally impactful stories that your readers won’t soon forget! Successful arcs apply to fiction, non-fiction, screenplays, journalism and any genre that benefits from strong narrative structure. All writing levels welcome. Character Camp; Crafting Well-Rounded People in Fiction

This class is for beginning and experienced fiction writers interested in practicing their craft. This dynamic, interactive workshop will focus on methods and techniques of developing compelling and memorable characters in all forms of fiction writing.
What do Atticus Finch, Jay Gatsby, Clarissa Dalloway, Dumbledore, and Winnie the Poo have in common? All are unforgettable characters! What does it take to create characters that live in the hearts and minds of readers long after they have read your story? This Fiction Taster Workshop will introduce you to a variety of characterization techniques and methods to help anchor your fiction in unforgettable characters. We’ll study the masters, dig into your imagination, brainstorm new ideas, and get in plenty of practice. Each participant will leave with a better understanding of compelling character development as well as a few new fictional companions who might just play a leading role in your next story!

You’ll learn the secrets to turning your creative sparks into polished stories, and leave with concrete and helpful hacks to immediately start crafting your individual story.
