Local oil painter, Dawn Cohen, shares her expertise in plein air oil painting over three Mondays this July. Dawn is well known for her plein air works of Crested Butte and the surrounding areas, and her work can be viewed at the Midnight Gallery. Using local flowers as painting subjects, Dawn leads the group through the process she has developed over the years to make each of her paintings. To begin, students will learn her signature color mixing program, her process for choosing a successful composition, and the remainder of the time will be spent painting en plein air to complete a multi-session 16 x 20 gallery-wrapped canvas painting. All supplies are provided, and include the specific set of colors Dawn uses in her own palette. If you have your own plein air easel, palette, or other supplies you prefer, please bring them.
