Powerfully soulful, Amy Helm is blessed with a deeply expressive voice and an uncanny songwriting skill that instinctively draws upon a deep well of American musical traditions including blues, gospel, rock, country and folk. Celebrated for her work as a founding member of alt country collective Ollabelle, and her extensive work with her father, musical icon Levon Helm (drummer and vocalist of The Band), Amy has more recently ventured out as a commanding solo artist. Here she explores universal themes of life, love and loss on musically and emotionally resonant originals. Her flexibility ranges from smoldering ballads, to heartfelt gospel urgency, to songs that can be just as stark and haunting as others can be hushed, lilting and meditative. A confident and charismatic performer, she collaborated with her father, singing and playing in his band, playing on and coproducing his Grammy winning 2007 comeback album Dirt Farmer, and helping to organize the now legendary Midnight Ramble concerts at Levon's home studio in Woodstock, New York. Amy’s stunning voice has additionally joined with greats such as Mavis Staples, Emmylou Harris, Dr. John and Warren Haynes.
